Who is Stephen Hawking?

English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, astronomer, mathematician and author of wildly famous book across the world – Hawking was born in 1942. He has brought a new perspective in various different subjects with his books. He carried forward theorems from historical scientific works and tried to explain unknown.

The most significant work of his was his contribution to Einstein’s theory of relativity. In partnership with fellow physicist Roger Penrose, implemented quantum theory to suggest that space time would begin with the Big Bang and end in black holes. He has also discovered that black holes are not only black, but also emit radiation which also called Hawking radiation.

British Scientist, Stephen Hawking suffered from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It’s a neurodegenerative disease and generally fatal after few years. Hawking was diagnosed when he was 21 in 1961. Doctors expected him to die in couple years. However, he held on to the life and his outstanding work.

Eventually, disease caused him losing ability to move and paralyzed him. This is why he was living in a special wheelchair where he could communicate through a keyboard. With the movement of few fingers, Stephen Hawking accomplished everything through his life, even his ability to speak!
